Junior Programs

Ashley Plantation was built with the full intention to create a family atmosphere. It is our belief that learning is best accomplished in an environment that is focused and structured but at the same time is conducive to having fun. Though playing golf is lots of fun, our main goal for the Junior Program at Ashley Plantation is to educate juniors with the game itself, making a special effort to teach sportsmanship, golf course etiquette and, of course, learning the Rules of Golf.

This year, we have three summer junior camps to choose from. In this section of the web site, you will find a wide assortment of activities we have planned for 2008 juniors including our spring and fall junior clinics, rules and etiquette schools, and for the more competitive junior - "The Junior Challenge Ladder". Also, by becoming a member of the Ashley Plantation Junior Golf Association your child will be able to represent Ashley Plantation in various junior tournaments throughout the Roanoke Valley.

Personally, I have had the privilege of coaching and teaching juniors for the past 20 years as a professional. In this time I have won over 70 tournaments, including a rare achievement by a Club Professional qualifying for the 1997 PGA Tour. Through my accomplishments, I hope to motivate each junior so they take full advantage of their own golfing abilities and find pleasure in golf, too.

If your child would like to participate in any of our junior golf activities listed in this section, please click on Entry Form, print it out, fill it in, and mail it with your check to reserve a spot. We will also be glad to mail you the information and an entry form by giving us a call at 540-992-GOLF or you can print out the brochure by clicking on the below link. We look forward to working

Each station will have a qualified golf professional instructing one phase of the game.

At the end of the week there will be a skills challenge and a junior tournament. A cookout and awards presentation will follow soon after the tournament at 6:00 P.M. on Friday of camp week. We urge parents to attend. Any parent interested in monitoring the golf tournament, please contact one of the staff professionals at the golf shop.
